What is Broad Band Light (BBL)?
Broad Band Light or BBL is a technology that uses intense pulsed light to treat various skin conditions. The pulsed light or light energy travels to the deeper layers of the skin called hypodermis, to stimulate cell regeneration. This in turn, will aid in various problems such as rosacea, hyperpigmentation, rough skin texture, and many more. All to give you that perfect Face MD glow !

What is the difference between BBL and IPL?
BBL and IPL treatments are types of light therapy aimed at resolving a wide range of pigmentation problems, revealing a brighter, more even skin tone.
BBL, or broadband light therapy, is an advanced type of IPL, or intense pulsed light. Advanced BBL treatments have many benefits, including the ability to treat active acne, relatively long-term results and being safer for darker skin than other types of IPL treatments.

Who is a good candidate for BBL?
Most men and women who are bothered by the appearance of acne, scars, redness, sun damage, uneven skin tone, wrinkles and similar skin problems might be good candidates for BBL/IPL therapy.
However, there are a few cases where BBL and IPL are not suitable:
- Laser and light treatments are not appropriate for melasma, as the light energy can make symptoms worse.
- While BBL treatments are generally safe for most skin types and tones, people with very dark skin tones may not be ideal candidates for this treatment, as hyperpigmentation can occur.
- Those with permanent makeup tattoos should not receive BBL or IPL treatments in these areas, as the light energy can remove the tattoos.

What are the alternatives to BBL?
- Chemical peels, which uses differents exfoliating acids, which are then applied on your skin
- Microdermabrasion
- Microneedling
There are of course other laser alternatives, however, some of these lasers only utilise one sort of wavelength, while BBL uses multiple wavelengths to treat multiple conditions and issues.

How is a BBL treatment performed?
BBL treatments work by directing light into the skin. There, the light energy is converted into heat, which is absorbed by the targeted skin tissue. This breaks down existing unwanted pigment, which is gradually removed from your body through its natural processes, and triggers your skin’s natural healing and rejuvenation process to reveal a smoother, brighter and fresher complexion.

What are the risks of BBL treatment?
The potential risks and complications associated with a BBL treatment can include:
- Scabbing
- Blistering
- redness and/or sensitivity
- hyperpigmentation
However, with proper guidance, and with an experienced technician, these potential risks are greatly reduced.

Things You Should Know Before Getting broadband light
Broadband Light: Frequently Asked Questions for Cosmetic Broadband Light.
The result is progressively visible in 5 sessions. Generally, 3 weeks-1 month between each session allows you to obtain the expected result. This will allow the progressive stimulation of natural collagen. Then, 1- 2 sessions every 6 months to allow for optimal maintenance.
While many people notice immediate results after their first BBL/IPL treatment, you will see one of the best results after a series of treatment sessions. The exact number of sessions you need will depend on a number of factors, including the specific skin problems you are treating, the area in which they are found, and how your skin reacts to each treatment.
One of the many benefits of BBL/IPL treatments is that there is little to no downtime afterwards, so you can resume your normal routine directly after your appointment. Expect to see results develop gradually over the coming weeks and months.
BBL is a safe, non-invasive treatment. BBL is used to repair and prevent, therefore the laser is effective in reducing many concerns, especially sun damage, which is more prominent on mature skin. Furthermore, the preventive side of BBL, can prevent and reduce signs of ageing. This means, BBL can be started as of age 25 years old, since this is the same where the body produces less collagen, and fine lines and wrinkles become more apparent. BBL is one of the best treatment to maintain a youthful appearance.
We use the Sciton BBL device. It is the world’s most powerful IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) device and one of the safest energy-based treatment options.
