The method follows the lesion. Depth, size, location and whether the growth goes to pathology decide the instrument. Clinique Face MD uses cryotherapy, electrocoagulation, shave excision, elliptical excision and laser ablation, all minimally invasive. Treatment options are set at the consultation.
Skin lesion removal by shave and elliptical excision
Shave excision uses a dermablade rather than a scalpel to take the lesion off parallel to the skin surface. Standard for superficial moles, skin tags and warts, around twenty minutes, rarely needs stitches.
Elliptical excision goes deeper. Surgical excision proper: the surgeon uses a scalpel to excise the whole lesion with a small margin of healthy tissue, then closes with sutures along natural skin lines so the scar settles discreetly. Deep moles, cysts and lipomas need this.
Electrocoagulation and electrosurgery
Electrosurgery passes a controlled current through the lesion to destroy it and seal the vessels feeding it, so bleeding stays minimal.
