What Is A Revision
Rhinoplasty Procedure:
Revision rhinoplasty is surgery to change the shape of the bridge and the tip of the nose on a patient that has already undergone nasal surgery in the past. Revision facial cosmetic surgery can be performed whether it was cosmetic rhinoplasty or septoplasty to improve the function of the nose.

Patients choose to have revision rhinoplasty performed to fix a previous surgery for a number of reasons including:
- Unhappy with the overall nose reshaping or final appearance
- Scars that may have occurred during or after the procedure
- Nasal septum obstruction deviated septum, or nasal breathing issues caused by a collapse of the cartilage
- Residual dorsal humps
- Asymmetry of the nose tip or a pinched appearance
- Pointy or uneven nose tip which is usually due to cartilage protrusion

- An ‘inverted V’ look to the sides of the nose. This occurs when too much of the middle third cartilage has been removed. This can also make nasal obstruction worse.
Dr. Moubayed performs revision surgical procedures using ultrasound with a piezoelectric instrument to reshape the bones of the nose without damaging soft tissues. It is a delicate procedure that can be done with both closed rhinoplasty (no cuts are made on the outside of the nose) or an open rhinoplasty (a small cut is made on the skin between the nostrils)
Revision rhinoplasty often requires the use of cartilage to replace damaged and/or deficient cartilage removed in the prior surgery. It often requires grafting from the ear or the rib, or the envelope of a muscle in your temple (temporalis fascia) to rebuild previously damaged structures. Revision surgery is typically longer and more delicate than primary rhinoplasty

Recovery Time from
Revision Rhinoplasty:
After successful surgery, you should plan a week of recovery from work, school, and social activities. After a week, most patients can easily be hidden any bruising with concealer.
You should not apply pressure to the nose (for example with glasses or swimming goggles) for six weeks after surgery if your bones were re-shaped, as bones take six weeks to heal. Pain medication may be recommended for a few weeks to deal with any pain issues.
Light physical activity can be resumed after a week, but you should refrain from heavy lifting for the first few weeks to prevent nosebleeds, and avoid contact sports for six weeks.
